Skills Gap Studies
CII is conducting "Skills Gap" studies across the country through credible partners. These studies have been successfully completed in Tamil Nadu & Maharashtra, while those in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab are nearing completion. The study projects the skills needs & gaps of the state by 2015. Such an analysis helps understand the dimensions of the problem & opportunity within. Based on the findings CII works to create mechanisms to fill these gaps and address the needs of both the organized and the unorganized sector.Case for Setting up Sector Skill Council in India
Brief Description :- The domestic industry is growing and several international companies are setting up base in India; propelled by the sheer market size. This tremendous growth has increased the demand for labour– ‘skilled labour’. One would expect that this requirement of a large pool of labour would not be a constraint for India. The current vocational set-up in India, comprising of ITIs and Polytechnics, caters to only 2.5 million people. By and large, the current system has failed to live up to its expectations of providing a skilled employable workforce. There is a need for greater interaction between industry, government and academia. This is only possible if all the stakeholders worktogether with an element of autonomy through the establishment of Sector Skill Councils.Setting Up World Skills India
Brief Description :-The initiative for setting up WorldSkills India was taken in order to fill sector-specific skill shortage and address other key issues affecting manpower requirements, through a well organized delivery framework.VET in India is in a highly undeveloped state. Also, VET has an unfavorable reputation compared to academic qualifications and is socially looked-down at. This is a serious concernnd challenge for the country and there is an urgent need to tackle skill-related issues. This is possible through a coordinated effort to promote vocational skills in the country. The key objective of WorldSkills India shall be to promote vocational skills within thecountry. Brief Description :-This document provides a base line language audit using the Business Language Testing Services (BULATS) Assessment Tool. This audit will be used to establish a set of workplace English language benchmarks linked to established framework levels, such as the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR), for employees within those sectors. This report provides a summary of baseline audits and indicates benchmark for specific job roles.

Mapping of Human Resources and Skills in Maharashtra – 2012
Brief Description :- The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Western Region, has mandated ICRA Management Consulting Services Limited (IMaCS) to- Identify core industry sectors in Maharashtra. Analyses current employment pattern of identified industries in the State and forecast employment potential of identified industries in the state by 2012. Also mapping current and future education infrastructure requirement and skill requirements of high growth industries. Besides suggesting suitable interventions by key stakeholders - Government, Industry and Educational Institutions. This report details our findings and recommendations.
